About Carla

Hello! I trained at the prestigious Guildford School of Acting (GSA) and then further honed my skills at Soho Theatre's writing lab. Alongside this, I also hold a diploma in 'Mindfulness Psychology', which adds depth and emotional understanding to my performances and also my teaching. Additionally, I have a keen interest in environmental conservation and work alongside many charities. I am also a writer and filmmaker, and my last film 'Wings' was multi-award winning and starred national treasure Miriam Margolyes! This film premiered on Channel 4 and Film 4. I spend part of my time in Los Angeles, and additionally I am a Higher Education mentor for those wishing to complete their studies in America. I have a dog called River, I love Mexican food and I'm looking forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

I am a professionally trained actress with a first-class degree in Acting, and over the past ten years, I have gained extensive experience in teaching, working with students in various settings, ranging from universities to private schools across the South East. My passion lies in helping students excel in their artistic endeavours, whether it's preparing for drama school auditions, working on a performance piece, or completing LAMDA/Trinity exams! (In both Acting, Devising and Speaking in Public) I take pride in maintaining a 99% Distinction pass rate. Creating a warm, fun and supportive environment is at the heart of my philosophy. I believe that when students feel comfortable and encouraged, they can truly thrive and also gain vital skills that extend beyond the world of performance, but actually complement other areas of their lives. I strive to build strong working relationships with my students, fostering trust and open communication, while addressing any worries, concerns, or self-doubt they may have. I tailor my teaching approach to meet individual needs, through a combination of practical exercises, character exploration, and technique development. I aim to nurture both artistic growth and personal confidence in my students. While my focus is primarily on acting and performance, I also believe in the power of storytelling to create positive change in the world. I encourage my students to explore socially relevant themes and engage in conversations that promote empathy, understanding, and environmental consciousness.
