About Madison

Having trouble getting a high enough score on your ACT/SAT to get into your dream school? Need to boost your score to be eligible for scholarships? Practicing on your own just isn't quite cutting it? Tutoring may be your answer!

My name is Madison and I have over 4 years of experience helping students raise their ACT and SAT scores. I primarily tutor via webcam, and have worked with students who were scoring so low they couldn't make it into their state university, as well as students who scored in the 90th percentile and above who had their sights set on Ivy League. Regardless of what you're currently scoring, knowing the strategies and tactics to use on the test can dramatically boost your scores! On average, my students raise their composite score by 4 points on the ACT and 150 points on the SAT, but I've seen as big of a jump as +9 points on the ACT.

About the lesson

In each hour lesson, we will cover one subject area of the ACT/SAT. We will cover general testing tips before diving more in depth into the strategy for the particular section we are focusing on. After making sure you feel confident on those tactics, I'll have you complete a set of practice problems (untimed) to allow you the opportunity to put those ideas into action. Once you feel confident on how to use the strategies, we'll do one more set of practice problems incorporating timing drills. As we go through answers to the practice problems, I will pause to address any content area knowledge gaps (like not knowing how to use a semi-colon or struggling with SOHCAHTOA) we happen to find.

I suggest a minimum of four lessons (ACT) or three lessons (SAT) so that we are able to cover the entirety of the test. Even if you score higher in one subject, learning a few tricks to boost your score even higher will only raise your composite. However these lessons are meant to be specific to you and your needs. If you'd like one quick lesson in one subject right before your test, we can do that. Or maybe five lessons focused entirely on math: we can do that too! The more lessons you book, the more we be able to practice and fine tune your strategy, and the higher your score will climb.

For the most thorough tutoring experience, I suggest booking ten lessons. Here's why:

-Allows time for us to cover every subject at least twice, giving you more practice and confidence with the material
-Let's me get to know you better so I can customize content specific to your needs
-Includes 1 complete practice test for you to complete halfway through our lessons. This serves as an important diagnostic tool in evaluating your progress and telling us where to focus next
