About Edward

As a Master's student myself, I am all too familiar with the many challenges that come with learning Computer Science. After completing my bachelors of CS, I was fortunate enough to spend two years working in code-heavy solutions architecture positions before transitioning to developing full-stack applications for startups in the machine learning and web3 spaces. I made a career out of helping people understand and use technology they have never seen before. I'm here to help you surmount all of the barriers you run into starting out, because I've been there before, and I know what it's like.

I am not afraid to provide you with the many "cheat codes" I use to excel in the software space. Any opportunity to give you a leg up and help you achieve better results will be taken without question. My goal is actually not so much to teach you computer science, but to help you identify and subsequently target your true reasons for learning about computers. Whether you want to pass your intro to programming class or launch your own career as a freelance app developer, there is a strategy that is right for you, and I am here to help you find it.

About the lesson

Our first meeting will be a free "discovery" session - we will discuss your goals, explore what learning methods work the best for you, and get to know each other to check for compatibility. When you choose me as a tutor, you are enlisting me as part of your support system. My top priority is to help you achieve your goals, which won't always look like working through computer science problems. Understanding the machine logic is really only a part of the equation to success - developing a good workflow and maintaining your motivation to learn is more important to your success than any file will ever be.

In between lessons, I will usually give "homework" unless there is a specific curriculum/class I am helping you with. This might be some light reading, a helpful video, or a coding challenge. At the following session, we will go over what you've learned and what you feel you're having the most trouble with. Over time, working side by side will allow me to observe your behavior and pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses. My lessons will cater to you specifically, and are designed to help you improve not only your coding skills, but your ability to learn new techniques and absorb information.

For long-term clients, I offer a free performance review every ~5 sessions where we can discuss your satisfaction as my customer. We can talk about what is and is not working for you as a student, and if you feel there's anything missing that I can provide for you as a tutor. Your experience in this process is of the utmost importance, and I am a proponent of using direct feedback to improve my approach to meeting your needs over time.

He has a very holistic approach to teaching music production and does a great job of tailoring his lessons to the individual. There is a fine balance of theory and practical teachings that will help you progress quickly. In a short few weeks I already feel like I am listening to music with a more educated ear, and constantly thinking about how to refine my sound as a producer. There is a lot of content out there online for music production, but it can get overwhelming trying to wade through it all on your own. I like to plan breaks into lessons and make sure things wrap up cleanly, so sessions often run a bit long - I don't charge for this! As long as it's within reason, mild extensions to lessons like an extra 10 minutes on a 2 hour session will only be charged as 2 hours.
