About Evelyn
Evelyn Bates is a rare type of musician and teacher who travels seamlessly across
musical genres. Evelyn is an award-winning classical pianist, songwriter, composer,
pop & jazz vocalist.
Born into a family of musicians and composers. Evelyn started studying piano in the
tradition of the Russian piano school and singing at an early age. She continued her
studies at the world-renowned Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow and later
studied vocals at the ICMP in London. She has a degree in acting and performance
arts.
Evelyn has successfully competed in world-renowned piano competitions and at the
same time has developed a unique voice as a pop singer, soundtrack composer, and
contemporary piano composer, and now is bringing her three-dimensional musical
background into vocal and piano teaching where she empowers her students to find
their own voice.

Evelyn loves to teach vocals/piano/composing holistically by incorporating a multitude
of different elements into her lessons to help students become well-rounded
musicians: playing by ear, playing by imitation, improvising, sight reading,
composing, working on technique, aiming to connect all these different aspects of
music with one another. Her students have successfully taken ABRSM, Rockschool,
Trinity exams in the past.
Evelyn has recorded lead vocals for the Channel 4 TV Series “The Undeclared War”.
She wrote music for award winning films such as “The Sessions”, “Detached”, “It’s
Not Safe Outside” as well as for the art performance piece “The Beginning at the
End”.
Evelyn has also been releasing her neo-classical piano compositions along with her
pop songs which you can find on any streaming platform
