About Dean
I have spent twelve transformative years guiding more than 410 chemistry students from their first encounter with the periodic table to sophisticated understanding of molecular science. My academic background includes a doctoral degree in organic chemistry and several years of postdoctoral research in medicinal chemistry where I contributed to drug discovery projects. I have taught in university laboratories sixth-form colleges and private tutoring settings giving me versatile expertise across different educational contexts. My students have entered careers in pharmaceutical research chemical engineering forensic science and medicine. I am particularly proud of the students who arrived intimidated by chemical equations and left with genuine enthusiasm for molecular problem-solving. I maintain an extensive collection of curated practice problems molecular visualizations and examination resources from multiple boards. Outside of teaching I contribute to chemistry education publications volunteer as a science fair judge and enjoy exploring the chemistry of cooking and brewing. I believe that chemistry explains the material world at its most fundamental level and I am committed to helping every student access that understanding.

My chemistry teaching is built on the conviction that molecular understanding transforms how students see the material world. I begin every course with a diagnostic assessment that identifies whether a student struggles with conceptual visualization mathematical application or laboratory reasoning. For organic synthesis I teach retrosynthetic analysis teaching students to deconstruct target molecules into simpler precursors while considering stereochemistry regioselectivity and reaction efficiency. Physical chemistry is taught through the derivation and physical interpretation of equations ensuring students understand why formulas are structured as they are rather than simply memorizing them. Analytical techniques are explored through real laboratory data including spectroscopic chromatographic and electrochemical results that students must interpret with professional accuracy. I emphasize the connections between chemistry and everyday life using examples from medicine materials and environmental science to make abstract concepts tangible. Every lesson includes problem-solving practice with immediate feedback and error analysis. For examination preparation I teach systematic frameworks for multi-step calculations precise terminology and the logical presentation of chemical reasoning. I also guide students in developing independent research skills and laboratory report writing.
