About Senade

As a teacher I hold myself to a high esteem. My goal has always been (and still is) is student centered teaching. My teaching style is a firm but loving approach. I believe in every single one of my students and their ability to be successful. I find ways to support the student in meaningful ways based on their needs. It is my job to offer the student new perspective, emotional and academic support as we work through what might be challenging topics/subjects together. I merely enhance skills students naturally have, and make them aware of the possibilities they hold within themselves. I love what I do, and I hope to share my love of reading and writing with evolving readers/writers.

About the lesson

I utilize Writers Workshop to teach informational, narrative and/or opinion writing. Writer's Workshop follows a writing process which consists of prewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing. During the drafting stages we work on "craft moves" which are writing skills which help push meaning in a story. These include but are not limited to: building character development, implementing research, proper use of metaphors etc. I tailor craft moves based on the student.
My lessons can be tailored to 4th, 5th and/or 6th grade.
As a 5th grade teacher I am experienced and well trained in 1-1 conferencing and upper grade writing. I worked with 4th grade during my student teaching. I have reading intervention experience which has helped support my ability to support reading comprehension across all grade levels. Through my experience, I am able to support reading comprehension using reading comprehension strategies such as supporting self monitoring, summarizing and activating prior knowledge.
Being a classroom teacher I am gifted in the ability to support a wide variety of students. My goal is to meet students where they are at and give them the tools and strategies they need to be successful.
