About Sam

I'm a Drummer/teacher based in Cardiff, Wales, and I'm currently in my final year of study at the Royal Welsh College. I've played the drums since I was 7, but I was terrified of my teacher to begin with. So much so that I was too scared to quit!

This lasted seven years until I started enjoying the drums of my own accord, and now I couldn't be happier, using my gift to help others and play the music I love. As a result of this experience, when I first got into teaching, it really made me want to inspire my students rather than scare them, and I pride myself on my patience with students and having the willingness to go back and try things differently if something isn't working.

Since those days, I've toured around the EU and UK, playing Jazz in an original piano trio. I've met my best friends and family through music, and it's changed my life, so the opportunity to give others that gift is something I really cherish.

About the lesson

I'm a firm believer in having a flexible approach to teaching. Lessons revolve around you, and content can be taught as such!

Whether that's wanting to improvise, play along to music, learn technique or study music grades, every student is different, and we all learn in different ways which I always try to accommodate.

Typically lessons range from 30 mins to 1 hour. I've been teaching for more than 5 years now, and have had students of all abilities from age 4 to 53! It's never too late to start as far as I'm concerned.

Now I'm in my final year at the Royal Welsh College, I've had a lot of education on teaching methodology, and with half a decade of experience to go alongside it, I feel confident I can help you play the drums and achieve some goals!
