About Thomas
I’m originally from Christchurch and currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Auckland. Before university, I studied Cambridge Mathematics, which helped build my strong interest in math, physics, and problem-solving. Outside of study, I enjoy skiing, climbing, and mountain biking. I’m friendly, patient, and easy to talk to, and I try to make lessons feel relaxed while still being productive.

My lessons are patient, clear, and focused on building real understanding. I start by going through what the student already knows, then work backwards to fill any gaps before building up to harder questions and exam-style problems. I like to explain both the rules to follow and why they work, so students can apply methods confidently rather than just memorizing steps.
Lessons are typically 1 hour, but I can adjust this depending on the student’s needs.
I am a 4th-year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Auckland. Having been tutored extensively myself, I understand how valuable clear explanations and patient teaching can be, especially when difficult topics feel overwhelming.
I tutor students of all ages, from NCEA math and physics through to mechanical engineering papers up to 3rd year university level.
