About Natasja
My academic journey has been filled with many highs and lows, I struggled academically throughout high school and into grade 8. I found it difficult to focus in class and was too scared to ask the teachers for help in front of my peers. I began to think I was not clever enough, but adjusting my study methods and approach to learning completely changed my perspective about learning and allowed me to matriculate with academic honours.
I have a passion for helping students that are in a similar situation to me, I joined my high school's peer tutoring programme in which I helped the younger grades grow confident in what they were learning, develop a deeper understanding of their work and achieve the marks they thought were impossible.
Over these past years I have continued to strengthen my communication and teaching skills. I believe all a student needs to succeed is patience, encouragement and confidence which I hope to instil.

I know how scary it is to say you do not understand something and ask for help, I try to create environments in which students feel they can share all thoughts and questions with me. I try to find a way to explain concepts to learners by themes they already understand and then ask them to apply that concept. Students have to walk me through their answers and explain their rationale for the steps they have used. I then will give them work to do before our next lesson, to ensure they can independently apply what has been taught.
I am able to teach in English and typically teach high school learners.
