About James
I am a 1st year student who recently completed the Leaving Cert. The months and weeks approaching the exam can be extremely stressful, but I adopted a study method that familiarised myself with the paper, phrasing of questions, and the right way to answer questions based on the marking scheme. Although there’s no way to eliminate all of the anxiety surrounding the Leaving, the real paper is 20 times easier after you’ve gotten a H1 on 20 past papers.

My approach to studying for the Leaving Cert is to focus on the layout of the exam itself. Whilst the material taught via the school curriculum is important, being comfortable with and knowledgable of the exam layout and content is equally important in approaching the Leaving Cert. Throughout the past years, dozens of questions on the Leaving Cert have been repeated with different phrasing, if not identical. Even without these related questions, the material on the Leaving Cert is constant, and becoming familiar with it makes the real thing a breeze. Using past exam papers to train yourself to answer based on the marking scheme, you can hack the Leaving Cert.
