About Eva
After tutoring a 2025 HSC student, I realised the various problems with how English is taught at school so I'd love to help students untangle the confusion and see how truly simple and interesting it can be to engage with literature. In this way, understanding and connecting with the power, presence and role of media in our lives is at the heart of my approach to tutoring. As my experience, I've been a circus trainer for young kids to adults, so I'm comfortable using a range of teaching styles, communicating productively with others, and adapting to unique needs. Personal enjoyment and creativity are centred in my teaching style as I encourage students to connect with their learning.

1 - 2 hr lessons focused on gaining confidence in approaching and interpreting texts, identifying layers of understanding and developing communication skills.
My teaching style is built around the four areas that high school standards emphasise (but applies to a range of ages): knowledge, applying skills, creative and critical thinking, and communication. Some methods could include:
- engaging with media of personal interest
- going through texts 'big to small'
- writing or speaking games
- practicing identification of strong/weak communication
- learning to identify what rubrics/marking criteria are looking for
- self-reflecting to identify weaknesses
- exam techniques
There will be a focus on tailoring teaching methods to suit student needs and target weaknesses, and an emphasis on cultivating learning habits that suit the student.
