About Saskia

I am currently studying my first year of a bachelor of marine science degree at JCU in Townsville after relocating from perth to pursue marine science.

I am hoping my study leads me into a PhD and eventually a career in ocean conservation through research and ecotourism.

I love to dive and snorkle and just spend time in the ocean in general which has given me a hands-on and in-depth understanding of our marine world and allowed me to excel in the subject in highschool and allowed me to apply it in a biological sense to excel in that area of study as well.

I also took applications math and Chem throughout year 11 and 12 which gives me well-rounded knowledge in the feilds of biology and marine science.

About the lesson

I am well-rounded in scientific understanding and ability and effective at communicating it to others. Additionally, I was a student who struggled with anxiety so I understand the feeling of not wanting to ask for help in class, which inspired me to offer 1 on 1 tutoring so students can ask questions in a safe space without the pressure of their peers.

I am offering ATAR units 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4 in both biology and marine and maritime studies which is aimed at year 11 students studying units 1 and 2, as well as 3 and 4 however I would be able to offer lower levels of students (year 9 and 10) tutoring in these subjects areas also as much of the content and understanding overlaps.

I received an ATAR ranking of 96.85 from my WACE exams, which has lead me to study a bachelor of marine science at JCU in Queensland. Additionally, I was the top of my school cohort in Biology and marine studies.

As marine and maritime studies is a relatively new and uncommon ATAR subject, I am looking to offer emerging students help with understanding the content and theory as well as providing detail on the syllabus content points which are heard to cover as there is no standard textbook for this course yet.

Tutoring sessions can be flexible and based around the students needs and sessions can range from 45 minutes to 2 hours and the focus areas can be determined by the student.
