About Aicha

Hello! I'm Aicha, an enthusiastic and dedicated 1st Class BSc Neuroscience graduate. My tutoring philosophy is rooted in my understanding of neuroscience, offering a unique approach that is both engaging and effective. I've undertaken various leadership roles both in and out of University that have enabled me to effectively represent and support diverse student groups and champion initiatives in STEM. My love for Neuroscience has also enabled me to work at renowned Human Capital firms. Beyond my academic knowledge though, my approach to tutoring is profoundly shaped by my own personal experiences. During Year 11 I faced significant health challenges that required surgery and led to me being home-schooled for a year, and in and out of post-op rehabilitation centres. This period was one of the most challenging times, as my grades suffered greatly due to my health issues - something I wasn't used to. However, it taught me incredibly valuable lessons about resilience and perseverance. The good news is I managed to turn my situation around: from facing the possibility of failing my A-Levels to ultimately achieving top grades and receiving offers from five of the UK's leading universities. I'm here to now help you do the same - minus the health issues! Learning is not always a straightforward path. There are bumps and challenges along the way, and having experienced them myself, I am uniquely equipped to empathise with and support students going through similar struggles. During my own difficult period, having a tutor could have made a significant difference, and this realisation drives my commitment to being the supportive and understanding tutor I once needed. My goal is to not only help students achieve academic success but also to inspire a lasting interest in science. With my interdisciplinary education, work experience, and leadership roles, I bring a well-rounded, engaging, and informed perspective to tutoring.I'm looking forward to getting to know you :)

Teaching Methodology As a final-year Neuroscience graduate, my approach is uniquely informed by an in-depth understanding of how the brain learns and retains information. I ensure that each lesson is not only informative but also aligned with the optimal learning patterns of the brain. - Segmented Learning Sessions: Based on research indicating that the brain's attention span is most effective in shorter bursts, I structure my lessons into three sets of 20 minutes each. This approach allows for a more focused and efficient learning experience, helping students to retain information more effectively. - Interactive Techniques: Each 20-minute segment is tailored to engage different cognitive skills, including visual learning, problem-solving, and critical thinking, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. Typical Length of a Lesson Each lesson is carefully structured to last 1 hour, divided into three 20-minute segments. Qualifications and Experience Academics: - 1st Class BSc in Neuroscience - 2x Dean's List for academic performance - A*A*A (Biology, Philosophy, Chemistry A-Level) - A* (49/50) in EPQ Extracurricular - School Representative (School of Biomedical Sciences) - School Rep of the Year award (faculty and university wide levels) - Proven Tutoring Experience: Experienced in tutoring my siblings and secondary school students for GCSEs. -Expertise in Neuroscience: My academic journey in Neuroscience has not only given me a strong foundation in biology but also a unique perspective on how learning happens at a neurological level. Target Students My lessons are ideally suited for students in Year 10 to Year 13. The unique blend of academic knowledge and neuroscience-based teaching methods makes my classes particularly effective for those looking to excel in their studies and gain a deeper understanding of the subjects. I am also well versed in and open to teaching KS3 subjects.
