About Sam
Hello!
I am friendly, personable, and enthusiastic about teaching; having just finished university with a first class degree in Philosophy, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw on in our lessons, as well as practical comprehension about what markers look for in academic writing.
I am excellent at timekeeping, extremely reliable, and an excellent communicator, thanks to extensive experience in theatrical performance and a high-level vocabulary!
I will make it my goal to ensure that you feel a stronger grasp of the material and more confident in your writing after every lesson.

My approach to tutoring is very much tailored to the student: I like to engage with the student's work / any queries or worries they might have and go from there! This ensures my lessons are entirely suited to the individual student, and that they get the most out of the time with me.
In terms of methodology, I focus on cultivating a clarity of argument, and an ability to break down what an essay question is asking of you so that plotting out a response becomes second nature! This will involve going through practice questions in real time with the student, and collaborating on essay plans to ensure that their individual voice can shine through!
Lessons would typically be between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes.
I volunteered weekly as a teaching assistant in drama lessons at University College School in 2022, and so have a good understanding of how to engage with students, but also how to make tasks feel fun and engaging!
These lessons would be for anyone from GCSE students to A-Level students at whatever level (I can adapt my lessons for anyone).
