About Adrian

Hi, I'm Adrian, an international Hong Kong student studying at Vancouver Community College. I want to take this opportunity to appreciate you for reading my introduction.

I've been playing rock&pop drumming and percussion for more than 10 years. Within these years I was so fortunate to perform in different universities and twice in HK Disneyland as a percussionist and drummer for the joint-school orchestra. I also completed my entire learning journey from grade 1 to grade 8 with the completion of grade 8 Trinity rock&pop exam in 2022.

It has been 2 years since I hopped on this journey to being a drum tutor and teaching different people to enjoy drumming. I’ll be able to deliver you my first-hand feelings or thoughts on my journey to drumming such as sharing the fundamentals of drumming, how drumming will boost your confidence and the best way to enjoy the process.

I’m currently studying music and majoring in jazz drumming at Vancouver Community College, with a preparatory music certificate under my belt and heading into the diploma in September. This will elevate my techniques to play lots of different rhythmic patterns and approaches and sooner or later I’ll be able to transcend my knowledge of Jazz music to my students

Hopefully, you'll be able to find your passion for drumming via my lessons without having any struggles or worries. I can't wait to meet you all and not only build up student-teacher relationships, but mostly friendships in the future!

About the lesson

My an-hour lessons will be helping beginners (grades 1-3), especially kids/early teens (9-14) with a significant interest in drumming. These lessons will help them build up their fundamentals such as drum set, drumstick grip, basic rudiments(single, double strokes, paradiddle), and focus on the little basic details(drum fill, tempo control, drum groove on the kick drum, hi-hat) and enjoy the process of doing it, as that'll be the perfect time for them to express their curiosity and feelings, rather than using it for school application.

Given more than 10 years of my experience in drumming, I've learned that people will be much better at drumming when they are able to sustain their positive emotions and feel the excitement of playing it. By doing so, I'll demonstrate the students' baby steps in drumming first, assisting them to get to know the settings or adjustments, then providing them with pop songs they like to express themselves.
