About Yvonne
- What kind of experience do you have?
After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, I maintained my link with the college by becoming a piano Professor in the Junior School. Whilst there, I was head hunted by Valerie Hume to become one of three Founder Members of the Park Lane Group which is still flourishing today. Due to my studies in composition at the Guildhall, I found inspiration and started to compose music for dance/dramas. These were performed at the Lyric, Hammersmith and The Oxford Playhouse amongst other well known venues. In addition to this I later became Lecturer in History of Music at the Laban Studio and worked as accompanist for Lisa Ullman, Dr Janet Goodridge and other members of staff. I have also spent many enjoyable years teaching piano and music theory at adult education Institutes within the greater London area. Following this I worked at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall, as Keyboard Harmony Professor for sixteen years. I have now returned to playing for local ballet schools whilst maintaining a substantial teaching practice at home. My pupils are of various ages (children to very mature adults!) and are also from various walks of life. My priority is always to bring out the absolute best in my pupils whilst working in a relaxed fashion. They are encouraged to participate in my 'work-in-progress" evenings' which are small, sociable gatherings for pupils to showcase pieces that they are working on no matter what standard.. I also seek to develop a greater understanding of musicianship by accompanying groups of my pupils to concerts at the main London concert halls. New pupils are warmly welcomed and will feel truly supported in their endeavour to learn.
