About Aaisha

I'm Aaisha, a Part 1 architecture student who has been through the architecture application process from practically every angle.

I've received offers in aerospace engineering and architecture from universities including UCL (once in engineering and once in architecture), University of Bath, University of Bristol and the University of Melbourne, and have navigated the UCAS process more than once alongside building portfolios, exploring architecture short courses and figuring out what actually makes an application stand out.

My journey into architecture wasn't exactly the conventional one. I studied 3 Sciences at A-level, rather than an artistic subject, and had to build my architectural portfolio largely from scratch. Coming from Mauritius, where there are fewer opportunities to explore creative extracurriculars compared to larger cities, I had to be quite intentional about seeking opportunities beyond the classroom. I managed to produce work aimed at the standard expected by highly competitive architecture schools and taken opportunities beyond my degree.

About the lesson

I'm particularly interested in research-led, experimental and environmentally conscious architecture; one that considers tangible and intangible elements and that begins with a question. My first year project explored subjects including science and kinetic architecture, so I can help students who aren't sure how to turn an unusual idea into an architectural project.

- Finding relevant architecture opportunities to strengthen your UCAS application and for first years.

Why me?
I know what it feels like to look at an architecture portfolio and wonder, "Is this good enough?" I also know what it's like to apply to competitive universities with no art background and try to figure out which opportunities are actually worth your time.

Having been on the applicant side myself, I know how confusing architecture applications can be: what belongs in a portfolio, what universities actually want to see, and how to make your work feel personal rather than copied from Pinterest. So rather than giving you a generic checklist, I want to help you develop an application that actually feels like yours. Think of me as the person you can send your portfolio to before you press "submit"
