About Rémi

I do this work primarily to share things that I am passionate about. Isn't it fascinating to dive into another period? For example the one where Europeans broaden their vision of the world and meet (by chance) civilizations with which they have never shared anything? To discover Mexico-Tenochtitlan (the Aztec capital) in the 16th century is to travel to another world, where gold lines the streets, ritual human sacrifices take place, unknown plants are cultivated (tobacco, coffee, potato , tomatoes), an incredible system of thought exists... but not writing! Nor the wheel! In short, immersing yourself in history means broadening your thinking, answering many questions about the world around us; in short, it is to enrich oneself culturally.
And geography in all this? Geography is not learning rivers and capitals by heart, just like history is not learning dates. Of course, you have to master the basics. But we can't stop at that. Geography is to decipher space, to understand the organization of the world. Why when a boat blocks the Suez Canal for 6 days, nearly 10 billion euros are lost? Why is the war in Ukraine leaving the oil shelves empty? Because the world is interconnected, global trade routes pass through strategic spaces that are vulnerable (congestion, ecology, piracy, etc.). To understand this you have to study things at different scales, this is the geographic method par excellence.

My experience shows me that you learn best when you set realistic goals, in order to progress step by step. It's all about adapting to your audience.
I usually start with an exchange with the student on the state of knowledge in order to identify what is known/understood and what needs to be reworked, before going any further. Work on the documents is also essential (it is part of all exams and competitive exams).
State teacher (CAPES, a french competitive exam) in history and geography, I teach here in video, to students from middle school to college.
