About Sam

I have now completed all of my architectural training and want to help others do the same, be it through mentoring on design projects, directing you through the design process and project management, or outlining the legal and client facing aspects of working life as an architect.

The majority of my experience over my five years of working in practice and freelancing positions, has been within the residential, leisure and masterplanning sectors. I have been actively involved in a range of schemes of varied scales, and delivering these through RIBA work stages 0 - 7. I have been lucky enough to have worked on over seventy different projects, a large amount of which have been situated in conservation areas, flood planes and difficult landmark locations, with varied involvement from drawing presentation and planning submissions to building control submissions, technical detailing and production drawings.

In line with the knowledge and understanding gained through my part III studies, I have been increasingly involved with the running of the practice, including fee proposals, invoicing and office management and administration.

I believe that the best way of learning about life as an architect is through work experience which I am aware is not always readily available to students, or maybe you’re working in a large practice and aren’t getting enough support for your part 3 qualifications, either way a few mentoring sessions could benefit you.

I have helped to train a lot of younger staff members in 3 different architecture practices so far, with 4 under my supervision in my current office. This has put me in a good position to learn different teaching techniques as well as understanding the content that could be most beneficial to you, and I have always received very good feedback from both my trainees and my line managers.

I want to make the learning experience enjoyable and I believe the best way to do that is often working to solve problems together and actually taking you through the processes involved.
