About Cleveland
Competitive players often waste time focusing on openings when their tactical foundation is actually quite fragile. My students range from those catching up to top-band candidates, and I work with them to diagnose gaps before moving forward.
Holding an MSc in Pure Mathematics from Stanford, I treat the board as a system of variables. I emphasize pawn structures, endgame technique, middlegame planning, opening repertoire building, and attacking play to develop your competitive mindset. 13 years of experience has taught me that chess is a game of logic. I am the right coach to guide your development.

Many players struggle to identify the correct plan when the board position remains ambiguous. Honestly, the most effective path involves tracking your progress through a study plan tracked week to week. Since teaching 301 students, I have learned how to analyze games for maximum retention. My Stanford background informs the way I break down complex game analysis into manageable segments.
My 13 years of experience help me create a relaxed and focused space for learning. We will focus on the patterns that define high-level play. Expect a methodical journey toward better decision-making.
