About Elisma
My name is Elisma and I am from a very small, farm-like town in the Northern Cape. In a 300 km radius of where I live, Afrikaans is basically the only language spoken - you can get a great laugh from hearing the farmers in this area trying to speak English!
I am the fourth child of my father's five children. My grandpa was a professor and the University of Pretoria and my father did his PhD in alternative ways of learning and teaching - because why does learning have to be boring? As you see, the passion for my language and teaching is deeply rooted in our family. I want to help you love it too!

And that, my friend, is my goal - to equip you to be able to love the Afrikaans language.
It is a unique language - my ancestors developed it from European Dutch dialects in the 1700's in South Africa.
Embark with me on this journey of solving the mysteries of Afrikaans - the grammar, the strange sentence structure and the best part -pronunciation (especially of the letter "r")!
