About Esther
Hello! I’m Esther, and I’ve been playing the piano since I was six, had attained grade 8 ABRSM Piano certificate. I’m currently pursuing a diploma level in piano performance. As a student at the University of Edinburgh, I carried the role as a pianist and keyboardist for the Jazz Society’s Big Band, where I gained valuable experience in music improvisation. Having both relative pitch and a touch of perfect pitch allows me to learn songs by ear—an invaluable skill I’m excited to share with you! Whether you want to play your favourite piece but aren’t sure where to start, or you’re interested in developing piano accompaniment skills to play and sing as a solo performer, I’m here to help and try all my best to help you in your unique piano journey!

Online class method: Set camera that faces keyboard so you can see clearly what chord shapes are like and learn in a more efficient way. In our first lesson, we'll discuss your hopes for learning piano and I'll listen as you play something comfortable. I would provide feedback based on your skill level. You can choose any song you wish to play and we'll adapt it for piano. Understanding the music is key. We'll analyse your chosen song's chords and structures to build a solid foundation and apply and play it on piano after theory. After covering the basics, we'll work on accompanying the song and developing improvisation skills to boost your musical expression and creativity. By the end of five lessons, you are able to play a diversity of chords and the ability to arrange piano covers, with increased confidence in tackling new pieces, then in future lessons we can move on to more advanced techniques. To track your progress, I recommend keeping a piano journal. For music sheets, I'll also set up a shared Google Drive folder for easy access to music sheets and resources. Lesson content includes: - Playing songs by ear - Accompaniment technique - Learn a pop song on piano fast without sight reading. - Improvising on a melody - Chord progression - Ornaments and arpeggios to make a song sound juicy and better - Legato skill on piano - Learn to apply chords in every song - Self-composing - Transposing music - IGCSE music subject tutor
