About Julian

I have 20+ years of classical piano performance and composition, and a DEC in Music from Marianopolis College. My primary instrument is piano, although I also have a passion for voice. I have sung professionally and internationally in various choirs for over a decade, with performances at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Place des Arts. I have also composed and performed with McGill University's renowned Effusion A Cappella. J’ai beaucoup d’expérience en enseignement dans divers contextes pédagogiques (cours particuliers, petits groupes, séances d’information communautaires), et j’enseigne depuis plus de dix ans. Ma langue maternelle est l’anglais, mais je suis capable et comfortable de donner des cours de musique en français. Je parle également l’italien et l’espagnol à un niveau intermédiaire! Par-dessus tout, je suis passionné·e par la musique et l’apprentissage. Ma priorité absolue est de vous aider à atteindre vos objectifs musicaux, quels qu’ils soient !

Hi there! Bonjour! I'm Julian and I'm here to help you improve your musical skills. Whether you want to better understand your Spotify wrap, learn to jam and improvise by ear, or pass your Royal Conservatory exams, I’m on your side. Our lessons will draw on repertoire that you love and that will help you grow through practicing the skills you're hoping to master. You'll leave with a stronger set of analytical and practical skills that you can carry forward into any musical endeavor, including performance, composition, general listening activities, preparing for an audition or test, etc. De plus, les cours seront spécialement adaptés à vos besoins: après notre première rencontre, je concevrai un programme sur mesure en fonction de vos objectifs et de vos motivations musicales. Ma méthode d’enseignement privilégie un apprentissage actif et concret: nous travaillerons ensemble à travers des activités théoriques et pratiques afin que vous développiez les outils et les compétences nécessaires pour atteindre vos objectifs musicaux.

I can guarantee that Julian knows his piano and music stuff since we both went through rigorous training and studying together. He’s an incredibly patient teacher and has always been very clear in his feedback! It’s hard for me to think of anyone more qualified if you want to further push your piano skills and music theory/knowledge to the limit.

Great teacher! Really takes the time to explain and adjusts based on your individual knowledge basis. Also very engaging, really know how to make concepts relatable according to your own interests. You can easily tell how passionate he is :)
