About Aven
Hi, I'm a guitar tutor with over 12 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, majoring in Guitar. Music has always been my language, and I love sharing that passion with others. I specialise in composing and arranging music for solo guitar and group ensembles, and I bring that creative energy into every lesson. My teaching style is supportive, engaging, and tailored to your goals. Whether you're a school student, a casual player, or a professional aiming to refine your craft, I can help you grow. I focus on essential areas like scales, modes, songwriting, rhythm training, and stage performance. Lessons are structured but flexible, designed to challenge you while keeping the process fun. Over the years, I’ve helped intermediate to advanced students reach new levels of confidence and skill. I’ve also supported aspiring professionals preparing for studio sessions, live gigs, and auditions. My teaching approach is built around making guitar learning enjoyable, structured, and adaptable to each student's pace and goals. I start by understanding where the student is—whether a complete beginner or someone aiming to refine advanced techniques. Lessons are designed to build strong foundations in chords, scales, rhythm, and finger techniques. I place a strong focus on rhythm practice, groove development, and tempo control, which are essential for playing confidently both solo and with others. We work on timing through metronome drills, strumming patterns, and syncopation exercises to improve flow and consistency. I help students explore different styles like blues, funk, folk, and more—teaching how to adapt playing techniques accordingly. Students also learn to recognise song structures, play by ear, and improvise over chord progressions. For those who love singing while playing or leading groups, I help build solid strumming patterns and timing for smooth, expressive performances. I encourage regular practice through goal-based routines that develop muscle memory and musical awareness. Technique is taught with clarity, avoiding overload, and I give personal feedback after every session. My classes are interactive, relaxed, and designed to spark a real connection with music. Whether you're preparing for performances, writing songs, or just jamming by the campfire, I guide you to play with heart and precision. I support every student in becoming not just a better guitarist, but a confident and expressive musician.
