About Stuart

Welcome! You are obviously here if you are looking for tuition in clarinet, sax or flute. So I should tell you a little bit about myself. I have been working in the music industry as a player and teacher since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 1996. For 20 odd years I lived and worked prolifically in London with some of the best orchestras alongside top musicians and friends. Alongside this, I've taught throughout, both privately and at various schools, both primary and secondary age groups. I've been a member of the orchestra/band for several big shows, including Wicked, Phantom of the Opera and Cats. I'm currently the clarinettist/flute/sax chair holder on Disney's Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I moved to Manchester 7 years ago and more recently to Southport. I am very much welcoming new local students of all age ranges and levels. Whether you wish to play for fun, or take a more serious approach through examining. I'm down to earth, young at heart, focused and adaptable according to the student. I have an advanced DBS certificate. Any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch. See you soon!

About the lesson

Primarily, the lessons have to be enjoyable! Establishing what you want to accomplish and the direction you want to go in is paramount- If you are aiming to gain a place at a prestigious music college or learn to play for fun, the lesson will obviously be very different, but, still, very importantly, enjoyable. I graduated from The Royal Academy of Music in 1996 with a BMus Honours and a L.R.A.M which is basically a teaching diploma. Since then, I've taught in schools at primary and secondary age ranges alongside private tuition with students ranging from 8 up to the young age of 65! All levels are welcome on clarinet - beginners all the way through to advanced conservatoire level. Sax - I'm happy to teach to grade 8 and flute to around an intermediate level. Perfect! Stuart is a highly knowledgable and experienced clarinetist, he clearly loves playing the instrument (along with others such as saxophone and bass clarinet).

Equally he is enthusiastic about teaching others, and he has a great deal of patience and humour with my many foibles and mistakes.
