About Megan
Hi, I’m a singing tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre Voice. I provide personalised singing lessons for students of all levels, from school and college learners to adult and professional singers. My lessons cover a wide range of styles, including classical, pop, movie, and folk singing. I focus on developing strong ear training, harmony, improvisation skills, and a solid understanding of music theory. Above all, I prioritise building vocal confidence and helping each student find their unique voice. I believe in nurturing individual voices while teaching safe and effective vocal techniques. My approach is interactive, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s goals and interests. I use repertoire-based exercises and creative vocal challenges to make lessons enjoyable and meaningful. My singing lessons are designed to nurture both The Soloist in Training and The Adult Beginner, helping them develop pitch accuracy, expressiveness, and confidence. For soloists, we focus on refining vocal control and stage presence, while adult beginners gain comfort with their voice and foundational techniques. I emphasise pitch perfection through targeted exercises and ear training, ensuring every note is clear and in tune. Expressiveness is developed by exploring phrasing, dynamics, and emotional connection to the lyrics. Confidence-building is integrated into every session with gradual performance challenges and positive reinforcement. We use a variety of song styles—from pop and jazz to folk and classical—to expose students to different vocal demands and musical nuances. Each style teaches unique skills: jazz strengthens improvisation, classical hones breath control, and pop encourages articulation and energy. Modern technology plays a key role in tracking progress. Recording software allows students to hear themselves objectively, ear training apps sharpen pitch recognition, and pitch correction tools guide precise adjustments. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each learner’s pace, balancing technique with fun musical exploration. Students are encouraged to set goals, practise consistently, and celebrate milestones. The combination of structured exercises, varied repertoire, and tech-assisted feedback ensures steady improvement. Over time, learners not only sing more accurately but perform with confidence, creativity, and emotional depth. By making each lesson engaging, I help students truly enjoy their vocal journey while building strong, lasting skills.
