About Darrell
Young beginners and college audition hopefuls constitute the students I work with at my San Francisco studio. You will find that my approach centers on your physical presence before we touch the violin. My 13 years of experience in a leading American chamber ensemble informs how I teach vibrato, scales, arpeggios, and precise intonation.
I focus on tone production, shifting, and theory to provide a steady foundation for your music making. Your posture and breath remain the core focus of my calm instruction.

Physical release provides the essential gateway to musical mastery. My methodology integrates the Alexander Technique to ensure your body remains relaxed while playing.
During our 10 minutes of initial warm up, we prioritize your alignment and natural movement. I share a monthly progress report with parents to maintain clear communication throughout the process.
