About Sadie
I am a titled chess player, a WCM, who was in the top 10 ranked girls in the US when I was a kid. I've played in many, many tournaments including the nationals and the World-Youth in Slovenia and South Africa. I have a USCF and FIDE rating of around 1600, I stopped playing in tournaments due to COVID, however, I picked up teaching/coaching. I have 2+ years of coaching experience in chess, and gained my club TD (tournament director) certification last year. I am very passionate when it comes to chess, it has been the light of my life for many years, and I hope to share my passion with all of you in a way that is fun and accessible!

Playing chess for 15+ years of my life, then teaching the game to others in the past few years has been the light of my life. During lessons, I teach a holistic view of chess while keeping it fun and engaging. Lessons depend on skill level, from absolute beginners who have never touched a piece before, to intermediate players hoping to win a tournament or increase their rating! I go over openings, tactics, and endgames as most lessons do, but what sets me apart is how I teach strategy and "chess-sight"- being able to see a position and come up with plans and understandings of the relationship between the placement of the pieces. I guarantee that after a few lessons, absolute beginners will be able to hold their own, and all others will increase their rating by over 200 points!
