About Joanne

Hello! My name is Jo, and I am a Wits Medical School student with extensive experience in debating and public speaking. I am passionate about helping students develop strong communication skills, critical thinking, and the confidence to express themselves clearly and persuasively. In my sessions, I focus on building skills step by step—structuring arguments, thinking on your feet, refining delivery, and mastering body language and vocal techniques. What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to tailor guidance to each student’s strengths and challenges, helping them grow at their own pace while pushing them to excel. Professionalism and preparation are at the core of my teaching. I create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel comfortable to take risks, practice, and receive constructive feedback. My lessons are ideal for students of all ages who want to improve confidence, enhance public speaking skills, compete in debates, or simply communicate more effectively. I am committed to helping students become articulate, persuasive, and confident speakers who can make a lasting impression, both in competitions and everyday life.
