About Uma
I am a singing tutor with over six years of teaching experience and a Licentiate of Music in Voice. I specialize in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after a long break. My lessons are calm, supportive, and completely low pressure. I believe everyone can sing when given the right guidance and space. Breathwork and vocal relaxation are the foundation of my teaching. I focus strongly on posture, healthy tone development, and ease in the voice. Mindfulness in music is woven into every session. It helps singers feel present and confident. I teach styles such as Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult. Singing, for me, is a powerful form of self-care and creative expression. I love helping people reconnect with their voice and build confidence through music. You are warmly welcome to start or restart your singing journey at any age.

This singing methodology is designed to support both the Adult Beginner and the Advanced Teen in discovering a unique vocal identity. For adult beginners, lessons focus on releasing tension and building confidence step by step. Vocal tone shaping starts with awareness, comfort, and healthy production. Advanced teens work on refining tone color, control, and stylistic choices. Song interpretation is central for both personas. Lyrics are explored deeply to understand emotion, intent, and story. Storytelling through music helps singers connect personally to every song. Genre exploration allows adult beginners to find what feels natural and enjoyable. Advanced teens benefit by expanding versatility and artistic range. Improvisation is introduced gradually to encourage creativity and freedom. Tools like lyric analysis sheets support thoughtful interpretation. Vocal journals track progress, habits, and emotional growth. DAWs and melody trainers are used to develop pitch accuracy, phrasing, and creative experimentation.
