About Sona
I am a piano tutor with over 9 years of experience, passionate about helping students develop both their technical skills and creative expression. I hold a Licentiate of Music in Piano (LMusA or equivalent), which has given me a strong foundation in performance and pedagogy. I enjoy guiding students through ABRSM, Rockschool, and university-level piano, tailoring lessons to their individual goals and learning styles. Each student is unique, and I focus on unlocking their potential while keeping lessons engaging and rewarding. My teaching combines structured technique, sight-reading, ear training, and musical interpretation. I also emphasize creativity, encouraging students to explore improvisation, composition, and expressive performance. I aim to make learning piano enjoyable and inspiring, helping students gain confidence and a deeper appreciation of music. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced pianist, I am committed to supporting your growth every step of the way. My goal is not just to teach notes, but to help students connect with music, develop their own style, and reach their highest potential. My piano teaching approach focuses on building strong technical skills while nurturing creativity and a love for music. I work with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced performers, tailoring lessons to their goals. Lessons include piano technique, sight-reading, ear training, and rhythm exercises to develop confidence and fluency at the keyboard.
I also integrate music theory, helping students understand scales, chords, harmony, and musical structure. For those preparing for exams like ABRSM, Rockschool, or A-Level Music, I provide structured guidance, practice strategies, and performance tips. History of music and different musical styles are part of the learning process, giving students a broader understanding of context and expression.
Creative skills like composition and improvisation are encouraged in every lesson. I focus on modern piano styles, including jazz and pop, helping students perform and express themselves with authenticity. Lessons are interactive, with a mix of exercises, repertoire, and fun challenges.
I aim to build confidence, technique, and musicality, while making learning engaging and meaningful. Every student progresses at their own pace, and I adapt my teaching to their strengths and needs. I guide students to set clear goals and achieve them step by step.
