About Petra
I’m a singing tutor with over 5 years of experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Vocal Performance. I specialise in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after a break. Whether you’re singing in community choirs, enjoying karaoke, or sharing songs in casual social settings, I create a low-pressure and encouraging space for you to learn. My lessons focus on breathwork, vocal relaxation, good posture, and mindfulness in music to help you develop a beautiful, natural tone. I teach a variety of genres including Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult styles. I’m passionate about helping people discover singing as a form of self-care, creativity, and building confidence. My approach is gentle and supportive, tailored to your unique voice and goals. Together, we work on unlocking your vocal potential while enjoying the process. Singing should be fun and fulfilling, no matter your age or experience. My teaching approach focuses on preparing singers for auditions with confidence and skill. I emphasise audition preparation, helping students choose the right songs that showcase their strengths. Managing performance anxiety is a key part of my lessons, where I teach techniques to stay calm and focused. Stage presence is another important topic I work on body language and expression to help you connect with your audience. I tailor each lesson to your level, whether you are an adult beginner or an advanced teen. My method combines practical exercises and real audition simulations. This way, you learn how to perform under pressure. I also help you build vocal technique to support your voice through demanding pieces. You’ll gain the tools to impress judges and feel confident on stage. My lessons are supportive but challenging, pushing you to reach your full potential. Together, we’ll work on breath control, pitch accuracy, and emotional delivery. I believe every singer can shine with the right guidance and practice.
