About Jalen
I have been teaching guitar for 12 years and I also perform and compose regularly. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies, which gave me a strong foundation in both technique and music theory. Music is more than just notes to me; it’s a creative and lifelong skill that anyone can develop. I work with students of all levels, from beginners taking their first steps to advanced musicians refining their craft. My goal is to help each student find their own voice through the guitar. I believe learning music should be exciting and personal. That’s why I focus on building skills while encouraging self-expression. Whether it’s playing a simple melody or composing complex pieces, I support my students every step of the way. I aim to create a welcoming environment where mistakes are part of the learning process. Over time, I see students grow in confidence and passion. Teaching guitar has been a rewarding journey for me. I love helping others discover the joy of music. My lessons blend technique, creativity, and fun, making guitar an enjoyable adventure. I’m excited to share this passion and help you reach your musical goals.

My teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation in guitar playing while keeping lessons fun and engaging. I emphasize rhythm practice because it’s key to playing smoothly and confidently. We work a lot on groove development to help you feel the music and play naturally. Tempo control is another important area; I guide you to keep steady timing in all songs.
I adapt lessons to fit styles like blues, funk, and folk, so you can explore different sounds and techniques. I also help students develop skills to lead and play in group settings, supporting them to shine in worship or campfire-style gatherings without needing to mention specific roles. This helps build confidence and stage presence.
Each lesson combines theory and practice, ensuring you understand the music behind the notes. I encourage playing along with recordings to improve listening and timing. My goal is to make every student feel motivated and excited about their progress.
Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, I tailor lessons to match your pace and goals. With patience and clear explanations, I help students overcome challenges. Above all, I want to nurture your passion for guitar and music, making learning a joyful journey.
