About Laaibah

Hi, I am Laaibah and I love English Literature. I have one year of experience teaching students the secrets to transforming their English Literature Grade.
In year 10, I was achieving grade 5 in English Literature and just like you I knew I wanted better but I didn’t know where to start, what my weaknesses were or why reading my text for hours wasn’t directly translated into a higher grade.
I spent hours going through resources trying to find ways to improve until I cracked the code and went from an average performer to the top performing English literature student with a grade 9 in GCSE English Literature and an A* in A Level in English Literature.
Luckily for you, you do not need to go through the same hurdles. You will have me to remove the nonsense and provide you with top tier English literature tutoring.

My exam board was AQA for both A Level and English Literature however my technique to learning and mastering English Literature is so transferable I will help you turn English Literature from a subject you are just learning at school into an asset you will take on with you for life. Therefore, I am open to requests from any exam board under the circumstances that you provide me with names of the text you are studying, your exam board name, and previous work of your own. I need a minimum of 1-2 weeks for me to create learning resources tailored for top marks by assessing your current level and creating you a targeted plan for success.

About the lesson

The goal of my sessions and how I intend to achieve this with you.
Goal: make improving your grade easy, ensure teaching is personalised.
What I will provide: before our first session I will ask for samples of your current work. Before I meet you I will assess your work and build a personal plan on your weaknesses and strengths so learning is targeted and progress is guaranteed.

Goal: reduce stress around exams by saving you time searching for the right resource.
What I will do: from my personal experiences I found that improving your grade in English literature doesn’t rely on hours of reading and then re-reading the same text confused and bored. It comes from having the right resources to build engaging perspectives on the text you are engaging with. I will ensure that these resources are provided for you in a way that is memorable for exams directly improving your grade.

Goal: make your writing unique and break old writing habits this is what puts you at the top.
What I will do: top grades in English literature are reserved for those who can think completely outside of the box or those who are tutored by me! It can be hard to stand out to an examiner when you are all taught the same text and are taught based on the same school curriculum, however, that is where my expertise lies I will help you transform your analysing skill from basic to nuanced and intriguing by helping you break out of the generic cycle used by most students.

Goal: make revising realistic
What I will do: the place where most students struggle with in English literature is thinking they have to memorise all these texts word for word in order to excel. But as a top performer I can tell you this is not true. I will provide you with the quotes from the text that are high yield in terms of marks and with nuanced analysis of these quotes shooting your grade up into the higher bands.

Goal: link what you are learning in school back to our sessions.
What I will do: sometimes learning with a group of 30 students can be chaotic and unfocused I know I have been there. So at the beginning of sessions we can cover any questions you weren’t able to ask in lessons and go further in depth on what teachers may have just touched the surface on making learning engaging rather than a passive activity.

Goal: making your dream grade come true
What I will do: just as I became a top performer I want this for you too so I provide supportive, kind and resourceful learning therefore, curating a comfortable learning environment. My teaching will be totally personalised to you, your learning habits and at a pace that is suitable for you.

I provide GCSE and A-Level English Literature Tutoring. However, my expertise exceeds this I can provide assistance with:
proofreading for assignments helping students ensure work is at its highest standard prior to submission I provide this for any education level you are at.
Help with writing a perfect CV for employers to help you get that dream job (from someone who has secured a competitive healthcare apprenticeship).
Help with personal statements to help you get into competitive Russell group universities
Past paper marking, with feedback and resources to learn from mistakes whether this be curated flashcards from the wrong answers or a list of topics to revisit.
A study plan/timetable build you a study timetable that fits around your life and other goals that you have.

My sessions can range anywhere from 1-3+ hours depending on how much help you require and what is the best learning technique for you.
