Approach to Tutoring and Teaching Methodology:
My approach to tutoring is holistic and learner-centered. I believe that every student is unique and brings their own set of strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. As a result, I begin by conducting a diagnostic assessment to identify areas of need. This helps me to tailor my lessons to the specific needs of each student.
I employ a variety of teaching methodologies, including but not limited to:
Direct Instruction: Where I provide explicit teaching on a topic.
Collaborative Learning: Where students work together in pairs or groups to solve problems or discuss topics.
Socratic Method: Engaging students through questions that stimulate critical thinking.
Flipped Classroom: Assigning video lessons or readings at home, followed by discussions, activities, or problem-solving during our session.
Real-world Application: Connecting academic content to real-world scenarios so students can relate and understand the relevance.
Typical Length of a Lesson:
My lessons typically last for 60 minutes. This provides adequate time for a brief review of the previous lesson, introduction of the new material, practice activities, and wrapping up with questions or setting the stage for the next lesson. However, based on the student's attention span and needs, I can adjust the lesson duration.
