About Dr Alexander

I have worked with children for 9 years and have been tutoring extensively for the past 7, teaching students aged 5–18. I specialise in independent school entrance examinations, as well as GCSEs, A-levels, and medical school admissions. My teaching approach is tailored to each student's individual needs, combining clear explanations, targeted practice, and exam technique to build confidence and maximise results.

I have helped students gain places at leading schools including St Paul's, NLCS, Highgate, St Mary's Ascot, and Tonbridge, as well as medical schools including King's College London and Barts. I also teach international students and regularly provide teaching to medical students in classroom and clinical settings. Having secured a place at Westminster myself and academic scholarships at City, UCS, Highgate, and Habs, I understand the demands of competitive admissions.

I am fully DBS-certified and registered with the Update Service.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs and goals, combining clear explanations, targeted practice, and engaging activities to make learning both effective and enjoyable. I place a strong emphasis on developing subject knowledge and exam technique, helping students build confidence and achieve their full potential.

I have an in-depth understanding of the requirements of leading independent schools and their entrance examinations. I provide access to extensive past-paper resources, targeted exam practice, and realistic mock interviews to ensure students are thoroughly prepared for every stage of the admissions process. Lessons are structured, interactive, and challenging, with a focus on identifying weaknesses and using constructive feedback to make consistent progress.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are adapted to suit each student's age, ability, and objectives.

It is a great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Alex, who has been an exceptional online tutor for my three children since March 2022.

Over the past few years, Alex has provided comprehensive academic support across a range of subjects and age groups:

GCSE Support: He successfully guided my older daughter and son through their GCSE Sciences and Mathematics.

Common Entrance Preparation: He has also worked closely with my 12-year-old son, preparing him for the science component of his Common Entrance exams.

Alex is a highly skilled and dedicated educator. He has always been exceptionally personable, reliable, and approachable. Most importantly, all three of my children genuinely enjoy their sessions with him, which has boosted both their academic confidence and their enthusiasm for learning.
I have been thoroughly impressed with his professionalism and effectiveness as a tutor, and I give him my highest recommendation.
