About Jessica
Everyone goes through rough patches in their lives. Mentoring has allowed me to help my mentees get through those tough times by talking things out, and looking for the best solution. I know that many times, we may get upset, angry, jealous, etc. and have this automatic impulse to act out. What I do is build a relationship with my students so that they feel comfortable coming to me first, before doing something they may regret. We then break it down to figure out why they have such feelings. I always tell them that we have to go back to the start, as that's the only way to truly figure out why the news they heard triggered such strong emotions. Sometimes it takes one conversation; sometimes it takes weeks. The goal is to figure out the trigger and then find a positive way to deal with it. It's not always easy either. I will always give my honest opinion, but in the end, the student has to do the work. I just feel privileged when I'm allowed to be a part of their journey.

Every student is different, thus every student will have different needs. During the first, free session, I will get a feel for the needs of the student. I will then tailor future sessions to meet those needs of my student. It is important to remember that each student is an individual; what works for one student may not work for another. My sessions will be flexible so that I can take these factors into account.
