About Will

I’m a Product Design Engineer with nearly 10 years of industry experience. You'll find my work on the shelves of Currys, B&Q, Argos, Amazon and beyond.

Over the past five years, I’ve tutored GCSE, A-Level and university students, as well as a few aspiring entrepreneurs just starting their own product ventures. No matter where you are on your design journey, I can help you build the skills and confidence to bring your ideas to life!

I’m highly skilled in SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360 and every major 3D printing technology. As well as a huge variety of hands on prototyping methods. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Product Design from University of Sussex, and my final year project went on to win multiple awards.

As a tutor, I’m patient, friendly and genuinely passionate about helping students grow in confidence and ability. Working in both big and small teams is part of daily life for me and so I'm confident in breaking down complex concepts into clear, practical steps, making sure each session is engaging, supportive and tailored to your goals.

About the lesson

These sessions are designed to be highly flexible, whether you’re looking for short booster lessons to tackle tricky areas or more structured support over the longer term. Every tutoring relationship begins with a free 30-minute call to discuss your needs and build a personalised plan.

For A-Level and GCSE students, I cover both exam technique and practical coursework. I use a carefully developed set of teaching materials designed to break down core concepts in a clear and accessible way, and I bring in examples from my professional experience to give real-world context to what can often feel like a distant or abstract subject. Lessons cover design theory, research, sketching, CAD, prototyping, and manufacturing processes, helping students master the material and produce high-quality NEA projects.

For university students, I focus on professional-level design skills, including CAD from beginner to advanced assemblies in SolidWorks, Creo, and Fusion 360, user research, iterative design, and robust prototyping. For second- and third-year students, I guide you in crafting compelling presentations, building strong design narratives, and creating clear, targeted project briefs — helping you produce portfolio-ready work and preparing you for your career.

I have extensive experience supporting students, both as a student mentor at university and in helping university placement students find their feet and develop in the professional world. This experience has helped me build patience, clear communication, and the ability to break complex concepts into practical, understandable steps — qualities that make me an effective and approachable tutor.

Every session is tailored to you — whether you’re consolidating foundational skills, tackling challenging projects, or preparing for assessments — and designed to be engaging, supportive, and aligned with your goals.
