About May
I am a French / American voice and English teacher. In the United States, I worked in the entertainment world as an actress (Theater, cinema, TV), singer / songwriter, and founder / manager of an independent label, also giving singing lessons to adults. I have 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry: - a theatrical training (Lee Strasberg School and Wynn Handmann course in New York, Ivana Chubbuck course in Los Angeles) - musical training (music theory and flute at the conservatory in France, harmony and composition at Santa Monica College in Los Angeles and Edim in Paris (school of Jazz and current music), lyrical singing lessons and other styles in private lessons, Feldenkrais Method in Paris, piano, percussion, guitar). Living in Paris since 2007, I give individual English and singing lessons to adults of all levels. I have a dozen students from beginners to advanced singers -Some students come to be coached for the stage and the recordings. Being myself active on the music scene, and doing international tours, I can transmit a technical education and a practical experience in relation to a current context; - other people work on singing for their personal development and expression for non-professional purposes, and quite simply for the pleasure of singing; - and finally some people come for the placement of the voice and its adequate use in a context of public speaking, to acquire more confidence. I believe that connecting with your voice and developing it is essential for your fundamental well-being.

I give private lessons in vocal technique and song coaching. Students have all levels, amateurs or professionals. Music style: the technique is valid for any style of music. Classes given in French or English. For French speakers: pronunciation work for English songs. The aim of the technique is to: - find the color of your voice; -learn how to position your voice in order to use it in a healthy way so as not to wear it down and ensure longevity; - extend your vocal range while unifying the different parts ; - use stylistic effects, master them and use them wisely to intensify the expression and the subject of a song. Work in several stages: -preparation of the body, the singer's instrument: through relaxation techniques and breathing exercises (breath support and breathing technique based on HARA and martial arts; -work on voice placement: projected spoken voice then singing voice -vocalises -work on pieces chosen by the pupil or proposed by the teacher -work on interpretation Other possibilities if necessary: • articulation • help with composition, and music theory • help with songwriting • preparation for stage (warm-up before a concert, audition, etc.) and for recordings • rhythmic placement • Singing while accompanying yourself on the guitar Typical course of a lesson: - warm-up, breathing, relaxation; - vocalizations; - work on songs; (This program is only indicative, and varies according to the needs and the level of the student) L The goal is to master a vocal gesture. ur acquire freedom and creativity in interpretation and vocal creation.
