About Fionna
Hi, I’m Fionna! I’ve been dancing since the age of two and have trained for over 15 years at Southold Dance Theater, with a strong focus on classical ballet. I began teaching at 16 and quickly discovered how much I love helping others grow through movement. Now, with over four years of teaching experience, I offer personalized, encouraging, and technique-focused lessons for students of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're just starting out, returning to dance, or looking to refine your artistry, I create a supportive and structured learning environment tailored to your goals. As a tutor, I aim to create a welcoming, encouraging space where dancers feel inspired to grow. My teaching method blends classical technique with creative exploration, tailored to each student’s unique goals and experience level. I break down movements clearly, focus on strong foundations, and use positive reinforcement to build confidence and body awareness.
A typical lesson with me starts with a warm-up and light conditioning, followed by technical exercises at the barre or center (depending on the level), and ends with a combination or choreography to apply what we've worked on. I also include time for questions, corrections, and individual feedback.
What sets me apart is my deep understanding of ballet from over 15 years of training at Southold Dance Theater, combined with over 4 years of teaching experience. I bring energy, patience, and a genuine love for helping others find joy in dance—whether they’re complete beginners or seasoned dancers refining their skills.
My lessons are ideal for children, teens, and adults looking to study ballet, improve flexibility and strength, or explore jazz and creative movement. Whether you're preparing for performances, improving technique, or just dancing for fun, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow.
