About Patricia

My name is Patricia, and I am a current graduate student pursuing a masters in architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. I also hold a bachelors degree in hotel and restaurant administration with a minor in music from Cornell University. While I'm not pursuing music as a career, it has and still is a very big part of my life. I have 15 years of playing of experience, from solo to small ensembles and large orchestral settings.*

During my year off in 2024-2025 doing architecture internships in Uruguay and Canada, I decided to bring my violin with me with the initial goal of just keeping up with practicing - little did I know that I'd end up playing and performing with many local musicians and ensembles! Reflecting back, I am extremely grateful to have my violin accompany me through it all, and I realized that I would like to give back and hopefully bring this joy to younger kids who are simply eager to learn this new instrument.

About the lesson

I am a strong believer in mutual learning and inspiration with each encounter of music. So, I'd like to structure the lessons in a way where the student brings to class something that excites them, as broad as an idea/goal they wish to achieve on the instrument, or as specific as a piece of music they'd like to learn. What I will offer in this exploration is technical guidance, and if necessary as part of the student's goal, more prescriptive lesson/practice/performing plans and tips.

Now for some logistics...

- In-person lessons will include a designated lesson set-up in the living room equipped with a music stand and chair
- Most sheet music is anticipated to be obtainable online as PDFs that students are responsible for printing or bringing in digital form (though printing is preferred), and any necessary book purchases will be discussed and notified to the student in advance
- Parents are welcome to stay for the duration of the lesson
