About Whitney
"I am a violin tutor with 3 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Chamber Music with a Violin Focus. My background in classical music has given me a strong technical foundation, while my love for modern styles encourages students to explore their own musical voice. I believe the best learning happens when technique and creativity grow together.
My lessons focus on developing bow control, vibrato, phrasing, and musical interpretation through clear and practical exercises. I explain each concept in a simple way so students understand not only how to play but also why a technique matters. Every lesson is adjusted to match the student's level, goals, and learning style.
I also prepare students for graded music exams with structured practice plans and performance guidance. For those interested in orchestral playing, I provide coaching on ensemble skills, listening, timing, and musical communication. One of my students improved their confidence by preparing section by section before joining a local youth orchestra.
I enjoy seeing students become more comfortable with challenging pieces over time. My goal is to help every learner build strong violin skills while developing confidence, musical expression, and a genuine love for performing."

"I teach violin with a strong focus on physical awareness, mental focus, and natural musical flow. I encourage students to breathe calmly while playing because relaxed breathing often improves tone and confidence. Small adjustments in posture and movement can make a big difference.
I guide students in developing a relaxed left hand, smooth bowing, and clear control without unnecessary tension. We also practice visualizing musical patterns before playing, which helps many students feel more prepared and less overwhelmed. One student found that imagining the shape of a phrase before starting made difficult passages much easier to remember.
I create a learning space where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. Some students enjoy creative ways of learning, while others stay motivated by setting clear weekly goals, and I support both approaches. I also teach healthy practice habits that reduce strain and help students build consistency over time.
My aim is to help every student enjoy playing with confidence, ease, and musical expression while developing skills that will support them for years to come."
