About Damian
Hi, I am a violin tutor with over 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, trained in the Suzuki Method. I specialize in teaching young children, often starting as early as age four or five. My favorite part of this work is watching a small child go from holding the violin for the first time to confidently playing their first recital piece.
My lessons focus on listening, repetition, and encouragement rather than pressure. I involve parents closely in early lessons, since their support at home makes such a big difference in a young child's progress. We build technique gradually through familiar Suzuki repertoire, group classes, and simple, achievable goals.
I once taught a shy five-year-old who cried during her very first lesson and did not want to hold the bow. Within a few months of gentle, playful practice, she was smiling through her recital and asking to play for her grandparents. Moments like that remind me why I love teaching young beginners.
Every child learns at their own pace, and that is something I always respect. I would love to help your child fall in love with the violin.

My methodology follows the Suzuki Method, which builds skill through listening, repetition, and encouragement. Young children learn violin the way they learn language, by hearing it constantly before they read a single note. We start with posture, bow hold, and simple open string songs, always in a fun and playful way.
Parent involvement is a big part of this approach, so I coach parents alongside their child during early lessons. We use listening practice at home, since hearing the pieces daily makes learning them on the instrument much easier. Repetition of core pieces builds strong technique long before formal note reading begins.
Some children are naturally patient and enjoy slow, steady practice, and I keep them engaged with small performance goals along the way. Others need more movement and games to stay focused, so I build lessons around short, playful challenges instead of long drills. Either way, I meet each child exactly where they are.
Learning violin should feel joyful from the very first lesson. We will build your child's skills one small song at a time.
