About Quinn
Hi, I am a violin tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Performance, with a focus on electric and experimental violin. My own musical journey moved from strict classical training into a much more experimental, electronic sound world. I love helping students make that same discovery in their own playing.
I teach electric violin technique, looping pedals, effects processing, and improvisation for experimental and modern performance styles. Many of my students are classically trained but curious about pushing their sound into new territory. We spend time building layered, textured performances that blend traditional technique with modern electronic tools.
I once worked with a classically trained student who was completely unfamiliar with effects pedals and unsure if she would even enjoy using them. We started small, layering simple loops under her classical pieces, and she quickly became fascinated by the new textures she could create. She now performs regularly using a full pedal board and loves every minute of it.
Violin does not have to stay confined to tradition alone. I would love to help you explore what your violin can really sound like.

My teaching approach explores the electric and experimental side of violin playing. Traditional technique still matters, but we push beyond it using effects pedals, looping, and electronic sound processing. We start by making sure fundamental technique is solid, since experimental playing still relies on strong basic control.
From there, we introduce effects like distortion, delay, and looping to build layered, textured sounds live on stage. I teach students how to blend acoustic technique with electronic tools without losing musicality in the process. Improvisation plays a big role, since experimental violin often means creating sound in the moment rather than following a fixed score.
Some students come from a strict classical background and are curious but hesitant about electronic effects, so I introduce these tools gradually and playfully. Others are already comfortable experimenting and want to push their sound even further into unfamiliar territory. Either way, we build a sound that feels genuinely their own.
The violin can sound like almost anything with the right tools and imagination. Let's discover new sounds together.
