About Andrew
I believe learning music should be an inspiring, personal journey not just about notes on a page, but about finding confidence, creativity, and joy in sound. My lessons draw on my experience as a performer, producer, and musical director, but every student’s path is unique. Whether you’re taking your first steps on piano or violin or refining your artistry for the stage, I aim to make lessons engaging, flexible, and genuinely fun a space where you can grow musically and expressively at your own pace.
Music has been my lifelong playground from the moment I could reach the piano keys to performing under chandeliers in London’s West End. I bring all the colour, rhythm, and stage energy of my professional career into my teaching.
My goal is simple: to help every student find their own musical voice whether that’s through a Chopin nocturne, a jazz improvisation, or a dramatic film theme.
With decades of experience performing, producing, musical directing, and teaching, I’ve played piano and violin on some of the most exciting stages from Phantom of the Opera in London’s Her Majesty’s Theatre to open-air festivals and elegant hotel ballrooms.
Working with actors like Carey Mulligan and Kris Marshall, playing for BAFTA award winners, and shared the stage with folk-rock bands and opera stars.
When I’m not teaching, I’m running my own studio, producing albums, or directing music with students who surprise me every day with their passion and originality.
--- Professional Highlights
Studio Owner –
Music Director, Producer & Session Musician – shaping sounds, nurturing artists, and occasionally rescuing runaway cables. Phantom of the Opera – Her Majesty’s Theatre, London 1st Keyboard (Deputy) – where every note has to shimmer in the dark.
The Hypochondriac, The Almeida Theatre, London Music Director & Keyboard Player, coached Carey Mulligan, Kris Marshall, and Ronni Ancona through the musical madness.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Rough, Violinist for the band’s album launch folk-rock meets chaos (in the best way).
Pianist at The Savoy, Violinist for The Violin Sings national tour, and music director for Bugsy Malone. I’ve orchestrated everything from classical crossover concerts to jazz nights, operas, and festival shows.
My students have gone on to exciting careers, some in music.
I still love teaching piano, violin, voice, and performance craft to students of all levels.

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile! I bring enthusiasm, fun, and genuine love for music to every lesson I teach. My aim is to make learning music something you look forward to engaging, creative, and full of those “aha!” moments that make progress exciting. I teach piano and violin to students of all ages, abilities, and musical interests from classical to pop, jazz to film, and everything in between.
Every lesson is tailored to you: your goals, your pace, your musical personality. My professional background spans from performing Phantom of the Opera in London’s West End to serving as Musical Director at The Almeida Theatre, and giving classical recitals across the UK and abroad.
Of course, performance experience alone doesn’t make a great teacher, effective teaching is an art of its own. My Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music training has given me a strong foundation in pedagogy, technique, and musical communication, ensuring that every student (from complete beginner to advanced performer) gets clear, structured, and inspiring guidance.
Whether you dream of performing on stage, playing for relaxation, or simply discovering the joy of music, I’m here to help you get there one enjoyable lesson at a time. Looking forward to meeting you and making music together!

My son has had violin lessons with Andrew for almost a year now. My son is easily distracted but Andrew has been very patient with him and has been good at explaining things. My 9 year old is enjoying his lessons and has progressed very well.
Andrew taught my daughter for a couple of years and I must say he is a very skilled and a amazing teacher my daughter was extremely happy with him as he taught her what she needed to improve on and how to achieve her goals. I recommend Andrew 100%
Andrew is an excellent teacher and we are really grateful for his hard work. He is so good with our daughter and is able to motivate her to continue learning piano. He is very flexible when we need to change the date or time of the lesson and is fair when charging for the lessons.
Great energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject. Really helpful and shapes the sessions to the students needs; I’d highly recommend
As a violinist, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from several tutors over the years, and I can confidently say that Andrew stands out as one of the best. He has a remarkable ability to refine even the smallest details in technique while keeping the bigger picture of musicality and expression at the forefront.
I know Andrew through his contribution to the entertainment at my festival Black Deer. I cannot say enough positive things about Andrew. He is a talented and charismatic artist and very inclusive. I would totally recommend him both as a person and a teacher
Andy is an old friend. But more importantly an amazing fiddle and piano player.
Plus a kind and supportive teacher.Andrew is an excellent teacher, he is very entertaining, funny and was able to engage and motivate our daughter very well. Our daughter used to look forward to remote piano lessons as she had a great time. Thanks to his teaching methods and hard work our daughter got a distinction in piano exam. Highly recommended! Thank you Andrew.
I met Andrew during the pandemic era, looking to move my music lessons online.
Since then, Andrew has been consistently reliable and with his teaching style.
For example, we have studied sight-reading through using songs we know and finding it's sheet music online.
The online lessons help me overall with my busy schedule as they are flexible and do not waste time in travelling. The occasional face to face lessons gives me the chance play together and perform the pieces we've learned.
I recommend Andrew for piano and/or violin lessons as he has the experience and can teach them well.A great tutor caters to each student for their lessons. Good for all levels and different styles on violin lessons.
Thank you Andrew for sending me this link. I’ve known Andrew for a year now a year. During this time I have acted as his personal assistant on a part-time basis and therefore have seen his lesson planning and the diligent way he approaches all his teaching. He teaches using advanced differentiation skills, that is to say he finds a way of putting across the lesson in a way that would benefit the student based on their personality, age and ability et cetera. He’s punctual fun polite and highly professional. I would not hesitate to recommend him as a piano, violin, music technology teacher. He is also an excellent vocal coach too.
Andrew was my piano teacher and he has a great positive attitude when it comes to teaching. I have learnt some great techniques with him and my piano playing has improved. If you want to improve on your playing and learn some new techniques, Andrew is highly recommended.
