About Tess
My interest in the violin began through a fascination with its ability to communicate emotion without words. This passion inspired me to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Music before earning a PhD in Violin Performance Practice. During my 12 years of teaching experience, I have worked with students pursuing a wide range of musical goals.
I believe learning is most effective when students feel encouraged and supported. My teaching style focuses on creating clear learning pathways that help students understand techniques while building confidence. I enjoy helping learners transform challenges into opportunities for growth.
Outside teaching, I spend time researching performance traditions, studying violin repertoire, and attending musical events. These experiences help keep my lessons inspiring and relevant. Helping students discover their artistic potential remains one of the most rewarding parts of my profession.

My violin lessons focus on helping students develop dependable technical skills while discovering their own musical voice. We work on bow balance, posture awareness, finger accuracy, rhythm stability, intonation refinement, and tone consistency through structured exercises and carefully selected pieces. Every lesson is designed to build confidence while encouraging thoughtful musical growth.
As students continue progressing, we explore advanced bowing patterns, shifting fluency, vibrato control, expressive phrasing, sight-reading skills, ensemble awareness, and recital preparation. Lessons are customized according to individual learning goals and musical interests, creating a supportive environment where students can develop at their own pace. Regular feedback helps learners strengthen both technique and artistry.
I believe violin study should inspire patience, creativity, and self-belief. My goal is to help students become expressive musicians who can perform with confidence and enjoyment. Every lesson supports long-term development, artistic growth, and meaningful musical achievement.
