About Briar
My passion for violin began with a deep love for classical music and expressive performance. I completed a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and have 6 years of teaching experience working with students of different ages and levels. Over time, I have developed a structured yet flexible teaching style that supports both technical growth and emotional expression.
My teaching approach is patient, clear, and highly individualized. I understand that every student learns at a different pace, so I adjust explanations and exercises according to their needs. I focus on helping students build strong fundamentals while also encouraging musical expression from the early stages. This ensures steady progress and long-term confidence.
Outside teaching, I continue practicing violin repertoire and exploring classical works from different eras. These experiences help me bring depth and variety into my lessons. One of the most fulfilling parts of my work is seeing students grow from hesitant beginners into confident performers who can express emotion, precision, and musical understanding through their playing. That transformation continues to inspire my dedication every day.

My violin lessons focus on building a strong technical foundation while also developing musical expression and confidence. I teach posture alignment, bow control, finger placement, intonation training, shifting techniques, vibrato introduction, rhythm accuracy, and phrasing skills. Each concept is explained step by step so students can understand clearly and apply it effectively. The learning process is structured, calm, and supportive so students can grow without pressure.
Students are guided according to their level and goals. Beginners focus on open strings, posture correction, simple finger patterns, and easy melodies. Intermediate learners develop shifting control, tone quality, vibrato consistency, and smoother bowing techniques. Advanced students work on interpretation, advanced bow styles, performance preparation, and repertoire refinement. Students preparing for exams or concerts receive structured practice plans with clear goals. Continuous feedback ensures steady improvement and correction.
Learning violin requires patience, focus, and consistent practice. My lessons create a supportive environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them. Over time, learners develop better listening skills, stronger control, and more expressive playing. My goal is to help students grow into confident musicians who enjoy both the discipline and beauty of violin playing.
