About Carly
I completed a PhD in Violin Performance and String Pedagogy after years of studying orchestral repertoire, solo interpretation, and advanced string techniques during my musical education. Over the last 10 years, I have worked with students from many different backgrounds and experience levels, helping them improve through personalized guidance and supportive instruction. Teaching violin allows me to combine technical coaching with emotional encouragement in a meaningful way. I enjoy helping learners become more confident through expressive music and performance.
My teaching style focuses on healthy technical development, patience, and adaptability. Some students improve best through organized repetition and calm guidance, while others respond more naturally to creative interpretation and musical exploration. I carefully adapt lessons according to each learner’s learning style, confidence level, and artistic goals. Along with technical improvement, I help students strengthen musical memory, expressive phrasing, rhythm awareness, and performance preparation. Creating a welcoming and supportive learning atmosphere remains one of my highest priorities.
Outside teaching, I continue practicing violin, studying different interpretations of classical works, and exploring educational approaches that help keep my lessons fresh and engaging. Music remains an important source of creativity and emotional expression in my life. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing students become more self-assured and expressive musicians over time. Helping learners reconnect with music while developing lasting violin skills continues to inspire me every day.

My violin lessons focus on helping students build strong technical foundations while developing expressive and confident musical performance. I teach posture, bow control, rhythm accuracy, tone production, and intonation using supportive exercises that feel approachable and encouraging for learners at every level. Lessons also include ear training, shifting exercises, scale studies, open string warm-ups, and interpretation activities that help students improve naturally over time. I create a calm and reassuring learning atmosphere where students feel comfortable progressing steadily without unnecessary pressure or fear of mistakes. Every lesson balances technical growth with musical creativity and emotional expression.
Beginners receive patient guidance with hand positioning, note reading, listening awareness, and smooth bow movement through organized step-by-step instruction. Intermediate learners improve tone consistency, phrasing control, rhythm stability, and coordination between techniques through structured musical studies and guided performance activities. Advanced students focus on expressive interpretation, advanced bowing methods, dynamic shaping, and stronger stage confidence through detailed repertoire coaching sessions. I carefully adapt lessons according to each learner’s pace, goals, and confidence level so progress remains balanced and motivating throughout the learning process.
Learning violin should feel meaningful, creative, and emotionally rewarding. I encourage students to focus on steady improvement instead of perfection because musical confidence develops naturally through regular practice and support. Many learners become more expressive and comfortable performing as their abilities continue improving over time. My goal is to help students enjoy the learning process while strengthening both technical skill and artistic confidence. Every lesson supports discipline, creativity, and long-term musical development.
