About Steve

I have been a graphic designer/ Illustrator/ and practicing artist for 25+ years. My original degree in painting eventually took me towards comic strip art and cartooning. I continued to paint in this period but I gradually settled into a drawing style that got me published across a range of magazines and news media including The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Bulletin. I also published a comic strip based around surf culture in Australian Surfing Life magazine for about six years. I have a very distinct style that continues to form my aesthetic today. My style has come from hundreds and hundreds of hours of drawing and painting across a wide range of mediums. In this period I have painted murals, skateboard decks and large canvases. I also worked for ten years as a senior print designer at Big W creating surf and street artwork for T-Shirts. This work moved into a more digital space, but drawing was always the foundation for these graphics.

About the lesson

I am a very experienced cartoonist and illustrator. I am widely published and currently in development with adult animated series for television. My key role is to design characters. I am also a very experienced T-shirt graphic artist and skateboard artist. I would be very happy to share my knowledge in any of these particular disciplines to all skill levels from beginner through to the more accomplished student.
