About Lydie
With 7 years of piano teaching experience and nearly 300 students taught, I offer lessons that are structured, personalised, and motivating for high school students, college learners, and adults. I help students improve technical skills, musicality, and performance confidence, while encouraging creativity and self-expression. My teaching philosophy emphasises discipline, consistent practice, and expressive playing, focusing on posture, hand coordination, finger independence, scales, chord transitions, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical phrasing.
Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace and goals, balancing technical exercises, theory, and repertoire, and I provide guidance on effective home practice to ensure continuous growth. Many of my students have performed successfully in recitals, school concerts, and competitions, while others have earned high distinctions in graded examinations. My aim is to create a supportive, engaging, and inspiring environment where students feel confident, motivated, and capable of reaching their full potential.

My approach to teaching piano combines structured learning with adaptable instruction. I carefully assess each student’s strengths and challenges before planning lessons. I emphasise proper hand coordination, timing control, scale practice, and expressive interpretation. I guide students step by step, ensuring clarity at every stage.
If a student struggles, I modify my teaching techniques and provide supportive exercises. Collaboration is important in my lessons, as students help set realistic goals and select suitable music. Positivity helps build confidence and encourages consistent practice. Beyond piano performance, I also teach music theory, keyboard harmony, sight-reading, and beginner composition to help students become well-rounded musicians.
